Our History
I Care Vision Centers was founded by Dr. Patrick M. Fowler in 1970, emphasizing primary family eye care. Historically, Dr. Fowler had two additional locations in Idaho Springs, CO and Montebello, CO. Those locations had to close due to a fire in Idaho Springs and rapid growth of the city in Montebello. We now currently practice in our main location in Denver, CO, Mountain View suburb. We are fortunate to have the trust and loyalty of our patients from those locations continue to follow our doctors for their eye care.
Dr. Fowler is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. He served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corp at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He then served as the Director of the Colorado Optometric Center for two years. He is the Past President of the Sertoma Club, Past President of the Idaho Springs Lions Club, Former Director of the Colorado Optometric Association, active member of the American Optometric Association and Co-Founder of the Eye Health Network.
In December of 2019, Dr. Fowler retired from active practice after 50 years of providing eye care.
Drs Valencia Z. Lo, Elizabeth Orleans, and Valerie Valenzuela are the owners of I Care Vision Centers. They continue to dedicate and set forth passion and commitment to provide an exceptional eye care experience to our patients and generations to come.

Our Doctors
Elizabeth M. Orleans, O.D.
Dr. Orleans is the chief Optometrist and owner of I Care Vision Centers. She joined the practice in 1994.
She received her undergraduate education at Regis University in Denver Colorado and her Optometric training at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. She completed her externship training at Pacific Ophthalmic Consultants and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco, California and Travis Air Force Medical Center in Fairfield, California.
Dr. Orleans’ clinical interests include primary family eye care, glaucoma and ocular diabetic management, specializing in unique and custom contact lens fittings. She is also knowledgeable in low vision evaluations and low vision device training.
Dr. Orleans is an active member of the American and Colorado Optometric Associations.
Valerie A. Valenzuela, O.D.
Dr. Valenzuela is the chief Optometrist and owner of I Care Vision Centers. She has been with the practice since 1991.
She received her undergraduate training the the University of Colorado, Denver and her Optometric training at the University of California,Berkeley School of Optometry. She completed her externship training at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, California and La Clinica in Oakland, California.
Dr. Valenzuela’s clinical interests include primary family eyecare, glaucoma and ocular diabetic management, and fitting contact lenses. Dr. Valenzuela is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.
Dr. Valenzuela is an active member of the American and Colorado Optometric Associations.
Valencia Z. Lo, O.D.
Dr. Lo is the chief Optometrist and owner of I Care Vision Centers. She initially shadowed Drs. Fowler, Orleans and Valenzuela as a young college undergraduate. Dr. Lo began her professional career in 2009 with experience in commercial Optometry and owned a practice in a franchise optical in two locations. She rejoined I Care Vision in 2014 with no hesitation.
She is a Colorado native and graduated with honors at the University of Colorado at Denver with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.
Dr. Lo went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Lo’s clinical interests includes primary family eye care, glaucoma and ocular diabetic management. She also specializes in custom fit contact lenses. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Hmong.
She enjoys hiking, fishing, traveling, trying different foods and spending time with her family, dog and friends.
Dr. Lo is an active member of the American and Colorado Optometric Associations.
